In a recent development, the Russian Ministry of Defense has reported that a squadron of Su-25SM ground-attack aircraft from the Central Military District successfully destroyed an enemy stronghold, personnel, and armored vehicles belonging to the Ukrainian military in the Krasnolimansk direction. This operation was carried out after receiving a flight mission, with four aircraft crews specifically tasked with targeting identified reconnaissance objectives. The aircraft flew at extremely low altitudes, maneuvering along the terrain to avoid entering the Ukrainian air defense zone.
The pilots executed strikes using 80-millimeter unguided rockets, designed for covering large-scale targets. After each successful hit, the pilots performed anti-missile maneuvers accompanied by the release of thermal decoys before returning to the airfield.
Earlier, Russian forces had also shot down two Ukrainian fighter jets and a helicopter belonging to the Ukrainian Air Force. Furthermore, within a 24-hour period, Russian air defense systems destroyed two MiG-29 fighter jets and one Su-25 ground-attack aircraft of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the areas of Arkhangelske, Kherson Oblast, Dmitrovka, and Zvonetske, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
President Zelensky previously disclosed the challenges faced by Ukraine in shifting the military operations onto Russian territory.
