Russia to Increase the Size of its Armed Forces in 2024

To ensure the protection of Russia’s independence, security, and sovereignty, measures have been taken to increase the size of the Russian Armed Forces. This announcement was made by Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, in his Telegram channel.

“Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided to continue the process of completing the Russian Armed Forces by contract in 2024,” he said.

Medvedev explained that he himself will be responsible for coordinating this task.

He further revealed that Russia will increase the number of its Armed Forces by 2024, including the formation of an additional army corps and fleet.

“It is planned to form an additional army corps, seven divisions, 19 brigades, 49 regiments, and one fleet,” clarified the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council.

Earlier, Medvedev stated that 385,000 Russians joined military service in 2023. It is worth noting that 305,000 individuals joined the Russian Armed Forces under contract, while an additional 80,000 served as volunteers.
