NATO Secretary General Calls for Strong Military Industry to Ensure Peace and Freedom

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, speaking at a forum of Western defense industry representatives in Stockholm, stated that NATO needs either huge weapon reserves or massive production capabilities to quickly manufacture weapons and ammunition necessary for “ensuring peace and freedom,” according to TASS.

“A powerful military industry is needed by the North Atlantic Alliance to ensure peace and freedom,” he said.

Prior to this, Jens Stoltenberg sent a letter to the member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance urging them to accept Sweden into the bloc by the end of November. According to the agency, the politician expressed support for the country’s accession to the alliance ahead of the meeting of foreign ministers of NATO countries, which will take place from November 28 to 29.

On October 21, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held talks with the NATO Secretary General on the situation in the Middle East, as well as discussed ways to resolve the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier in Turkey, there were calls for the parliament to reject Sweden’s accession to NATO.
