Russian Military Upgrades TOS-1A Solntsepek Heavy Flamethrower Systems for Enhanced Precision and Safety

The Russian Ministry of Defense has announced a significant upgrade to the TOS-1A “Solntsepek” heavy flamethrower systems, allowing crews to accurately engage targets of the Ukrainian Armed Forces without leaving the safety of their vehicles. This upgrade greatly reduces the risk of being exposed to retaliatory fire, as the TOS-1A can rapidly change its position. According to an informed source cited by RIA Novosti, the improved “Solntsepek” crews can now securely anchor themselves to the terrain while remaining inside the vehicle, enhancing the speed and accuracy of their firepower.

The source further explained that the new software and hardware complex for the “Solntsepek” systems has been developed by the Research Institute “Signal” and is currently being serially installed on combat vehicles. This development marks a significant advancement in the targeting capabilities of the heavy flamethrower systems.

The Russian Ministry of Defense previously stated that the latest software solutions for terrain anchoring during salvos are being utilized by the crews of TOS-1A “Solntsepek” systems of the Russian Airborne Troops. Target adjustments are conducted by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which transmit real-time shooting results to the command center.

In related news, it has been revealed where in Russia the training of UAV operators will commence. This development showcases Russia’s ongoing efforts to modernize its military capabilities and maintain its position as a significant player in the global defense arena.
