Russian military forces successfully intercepted and neutralized a drone in the outskirts of Sevastopol, Crimea, using electronic warfare equipment. The governor of the city, Mikhail Razvozhaev, confirmed the incident in his Telegram channel.
According to Razvozhaev, the drone was brought down and detonated on the ground in the Kara-Koby area. However, there were no reports of any damage to infrastructure. The governor also attributed other loud sounds in Sevastopol to routine military activities, including the use of jet bomb shells.
The Ministry of Defense previously announced that Russian air defense systems intercepted five missiles fired from Ukraine’s HIMARS rocket artillery and 44 Ukrainian military drones. The drones were reportedly destroyed near the towns of Kremenaya and Zolotarevka in the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR). Additionally, aerial vehicles were detected near the villages of Sagi in the Kherson region, Tokmak in the Zaporizhia region, and Berestove in the Donetsk region.
This recent development comes after Russia announced the creation of a new drone suppression system within its military arsenal. The system aims to counter the increasing use of drones in modern warfare.
