Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Introduces Resolution to Censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib for Antisemitic Activity and Sympathizing with Terrorist Organizations

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called out Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday for his 2019 decision to bar Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar from visiting Israel. However, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., is now taking a stand against Tlaib by introducing a resolution to censure her for alleged “antisemitic activity” and “sympathizing with terrorist organizations.”

In an exclusive interview with Digital, Greene criticized the Democratic Party for failing to hold Tlaib accountable for her actions. She accused Tlaib of leading a pro-Palestinian protest on Capitol Hill last week, during which demonstrators called for a cease-fire between Israel and the terror group Hamas. Greene referred to the protest as an “insurrection” in her resolution.

Greene also highlighted Tlaib’s endorsement of a slogan used by Hamas and the Palestine Liberation Organization, as well as her previous comments referring to Israel as an “apartheid government.” These remarks have drawn criticism, particularly considering Tlaib is the only Palestinian-American member of Congress.

When asked about Republican support for her censure resolution, Greene expressed confidence, stating, “I think we will have every single Republican vote with us for this central resolution.” As for the left, she found it “shocking” if they didn’t vote for it. Greene further called for investigations into Tlaib’s support of the cease-fire protest by multiple House panels, as well as the involvement of agencies such as the Department of Justice, FBI, and possibly the CIA.

Tlaib’s office has not yet responded to requests for comment on the matter.

It remains to be seen how this resolution will progress and whether it will have any significant impact on Tlaib’s standing within the Democratic Party. However, the introduction of such a resolution highlights the ongoing tensions within Congress surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the differing perspectives on how to address it.
