In the ongoing efforts to secure the release of hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Egypt has emerged as a crucial player. This was announced by the spokesperson of the Israeli Defense Forces, Brigadier General Daniel Hageri, according to reports from RIA Novosti.
Hageri highlighted Egypt’s pivotal role in addressing the issue of hostages and missing individuals. He praised Cairo’s effective and valuable efforts in this regard. The military representative also expressed gratitude to the Red Cross.
It is worth noting that while two elderly women were successfully freed on October 23, their husbands remain among the 222 hostages still held captive.
Former Mossad agent Yossi Alpher recently stated that Hamas is releasing hostages at a slow pace in hopes of deterring a ground operation by the Israel Defense Forces in the Gaza Strip.
Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the country is in a state of war.
