In a recent development in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the press center chief of the “South” group Vadim Astafyev has reported that Ukrainian armed forces (UAF) have suffered significant casualties on the Donetsk front, losing up to 285 soldiers in the past 24 hours. This information was shared with TASS.
According to Astafyev, units of the South group of forces successfully repelled five attacks by the Ukrainian army, with the support of air power and artillery fire. The battles took place in the areas of Kleschevka, Soledar, and Berkhovskoye Reservoir.
“The enemy has lost up to 285 servicemen killed or wounded. A T-72 tank was destroyed in the area of Krasnogorovka and a combat armored vehicle ‘Kirpi’ in the area of Artemovsk,” added Astafyev.
Prior to this, the commander of a UAF company, Vladislav Shevchuk, had expressed concerns about a severe shortage of soldiers in the Ukrainian army, emphasizing the need for stricter mobilization measures.
According to Shevchuk, Ukrainian conscripts should not rely on being able to avoid frontline duty, as “soldiers are running out every day.”
This latest development comes as the United States identifies one of the greatest threats to the UAF.
