Russian air defense systems have gained experience in interacting with American ballistic missiles, which the country’s military will learn from in order to effectively intercept similar targets in the future. This was stated by the advisor to the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Yan Gagin, as reported by RIA Novosti.
The agency’s source noted that the world’s information field is currently filled with news about the transfer of these missiles to Kiev and the first experience of their use by Ukrainian soldiers. According to the media, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have already launched their first attacks on positions of Russian troops using ATACMS.
“Well, what can I say: now our air defense systems have gained experience in interacting with these products. Let’s call these strikes exactly the experience from which we will have to draw some lessons for the effective defeat of such targets,” Gagin said.
He expressed confidence that the Russian Armed Forces will be able to find a way to counter these projectiles. Moreover, Russian military already have experience in destroying Storm Shadow cruise missiles and rocket projectiles for HIMARS complexes, emphasized the advisor to the head of the region.
According to the agency’s source, the country’s army is capable of withstanding any threat. As an example of the effective work of Russian air defense systems, Gagin cited regular interceptions of Ukrainian drones and missiles in the sky over Crimea.
“They (the attacks – “Gazeta.Ru”) are repelled with quite good efficiency,” concluded the advisor to the head of the DPR.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin referred to the delivery of ATACMS missiles to the conflict zone as a “prolongation of Ukraine’s agony.”
