Iran Faces Dilemma in Palestinian-Israeli Conflict, Reuters Reports

Iranian officials have made strong statements about Israel but have no plans to engage in open conflict, according to reports from Reuters.

The agency reveals that Hamas, a Palestinian group, has long received funding from Tehran. Iran cannot afford to stay out of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict as it would undermine its longstanding efforts to achieve regional leadership and be perceived as a sign of weakness.

It is noted that Iran allows the Lebanese group Hezbollah to launch attacks across the border into Israel and target small American facilities.

“Iranians are faced with a dilemma: to send Hezbollah to fight and try to save their presence in the Gaza Strip, or… abandon their support,” the publication states.

Previously, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called on countries under US sanctions to collaborate in neutralizing the impact of these restrictions.

Earlier, the media learned of Europe’s plans to violate the nuclear deal with Iran.
