Ukrainian Soldier Captured by Russian Forces Reveals Instances of Desertion Within Ukrainian Armed Forces

In a recent development, Ukrainian soldier Alexander Lyska, who was captured by Russian forces, has shed light on the presence of desertion within the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This revelation comes amidst the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Lyska, in an interview with RIA Novosti, stated that there have been multiple cases of soldiers leaving their posts.

One particular incident highlighted by Lyska involved a fellow soldier who left to bid farewell to his grandmother. “We let him go, and he never returned,” remarked Lyska, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation. According to Lyska, similar situations have occurred with other soldiers as well.

Lyska, who found himself in captivity after being captured by Russian forces in the combat zone along the Zaporozhye direction, also mentioned that he has been treated adequately by the Russian military, receiving food and water.

This account follows a previous revelation by Ukrainian tank operator Igor Galinka, who described being captured as the only means of survival in the intense conflict along the Zaporozhye direction. Galinka, a former member of the 14th Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Army, painted a grim picture of the situation.

Earlier, the United States acknowledged the failure of the Ukrainian counteroffensive, further highlighting the challenges faced by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

While these accounts shed light on the complexities of the conflict in Ukraine, it is vital to continue monitoring the situation and ensure the safety and well-being of all those involved.
