Russian Troops Make Advances Towards Avdeevka in Donetsk People’s Republic

Russian troops have reportedly made significant advances towards the railway in the Avdeevka area of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). According to sources familiar with the situation, Russian reconnaissance units entered the village of Stepove on October 21 and proceeded towards the village of Berdychiv before conducting combat reconnaissance and retreating. It is believed that Russian troops are currently regrouping and mobilizing reserves.

The situation on the Avdeevka front has been described as challenging for the Ukrainian army by Andriy Yusev, a representative of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense. He highlighted the strategic importance of Avdeevka for the Russian Armed Forces, stating that it holds greater significance than Artemivsk (known as Bakhmut in Ukrainian). Avdeevka is considered to be the most fortified area of the Donbass group, from where attacks on Donetsk are launched.

In October, Russian forces initiated an offensive towards Avdeevka, where approximately 11,000 Ukrainian military personnel are stationed. According to reports from the Russian Ministry of Defense, the objective is to encircle the town and sever the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ supply lines.

Earlier, a Ukrainian soldier expressed confusion regarding the reasons behind the conflict in Ukraine.
