Clashes Erupt Between Iraqi Army and Kurdish Forces in Mahmur

Clashes have erupted between the Iraqi army and Kurdish forces in the city of Mahmur, located in northern Iraq. The fighting was sparked by disputes over the ownership of three military outposts in Mahmur. Tragically, one Kurdish fighter has been killed as a result of the clashes.

In a separate incident, it was reported that a U.S. military base in the Anbar province, western Iraq, came under attack by drones and rockets. According to two security sources, the evening of Thursday witnessed a bombardment on the Ain al-Asad airbase, where U.S. and other international forces are stationed.

Shafaq News agency has reported that the attack was carried out using a multiple rocket launcher system called “Grad”. Earlier on the same day, a Shiite group in Iraq attacked the U.S. base in At-Tanf, Syria. Furthermore, the same group launched a missile strike on the American base at the Conoco gas field northeast of Deir ez-Zor in Syria.
