US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has promised Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov to seek additional funding from Congress for the continuation of military supplies. This was reported on the official website of the Pentagon.
During a phone conversation with Umerov, the American Defense Secretary reminded him of the ongoing support from Washington to Kiev.
Austin and Umerov discussed the outcomes of the donor countries’ meeting on military assistance in Brussels, Belgium, which took place last week. They also touched upon the recent events in Ukraine, including the situation in the conflict zone.
Both leaders of the defense departments pledged to maintain further contacts.
Previously, former advisor Oleg Soskin suggested that the US would cease funding Ukraine due to the war in Israel.
Earlier, the US and Ukraine initiated negotiations on security guarantees for Kiev.
