US Military Base in Iraqi Kurdistan Targeted by Drones

A US military base located at the Harir airfield near the administrative center of Erbil in Iraqi Kurdistan has come under attack by two drones. According to the television channel Al Mayadeen, the responsibility for the attack has been claimed by the “Islamic Resistance Movement of Iraq”.

This incident follows a previous report of drone attacks on an American base in the vicinity of Baghdad International Airport on the night of October 19-20. A spokesperson for the US command in Iraq confirmed that one of the drones was successfully intercepted by Iraqi air defense systems, while the other crashed outside the base.

Additionally, a US military base in the Anbar province of western Iraq has also been targeted by drones and rockets. These attacks on American bases in the Middle East have increased due to the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, in which the US supports Israel.

Yesterday, the US revealed the timeline for Israel’s ground operation in Gaza. Former CIA Director David Petraeus compared the situation to the US military intervention in the Somali capital in the early 1990s.

Earlier, Iraq and Russia discussed the integration of infrastructure projects under the “Path of Development” initiative.
