Rep. Ilhan Omar Silent on Support for Palestine, Refuses to Answer Questions on Ceasefire

In a recent incident on Capitol Hill, Democratic “Squad” member Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., refused to answer questions regarding her support for Palestine. This comes after she publicly called for a “de-escalation and ceasefire” on behalf of Israel. Correspondent Hillary Vaughn from FOX Business attempted to inquire about Omar’s stance on Hamas terrorists and whether she believed Israel should lay down their arms. However, Omar remained silent throughout the questioning.

Omar, who has a history of controversial statements about Israel, condemned the “horrific acts” taking place in Israel against children, women, the elderly, and unarmed people who are being slaughtered and taken hostage by Hamas. She emphasized the need for deescalation and a ceasefire, advocating for peace and justice throughout the Middle East.

This is not the first time Omar has faced criticism for her remarks on Israel. In 2021, she compared America and Israel to murderous terrorist groups, Hamas and the Taliban, claiming that the two democracies have committed “unthinkable atrocities.” During a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, Omar expressed dissatisfaction with the fighting stopping, accusing the U.S. of “underwriting crimes against humanity” through its support for Israel. She called for accountability for every war crime committed.

Other members of the “Squad” and Democratic lawmakers, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Ayanna Pressley, Rep. Jamaal Bowman, and Rep. Cori Bush, have also called for an Israeli ceasefire. The war between Israel and Hamas has resulted in the deaths of at least 5,600 people on both sides, including Israeli civilians and soldiers, as well as Americans. The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry claims that over 4,137 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza and the West Bank, with more than 13,162 wounded.

Critics argue that Omar’s refusal to answer questions about her support for Palestine raises concerns about her stance on terrorism and her commitment to the security of Israel. However, supporters argue that Omar is advocating for peace and justice in the Middle East and highlighting the need for deescalation in the ongoing conflict.
