Putin Meets with Aviation Industry Leader to Discuss Advancements in Aircraft Engine Production

In Perm, President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with Alexander Inozemtsev, the managing director and chief designer of ODK-Aviadvigatel. The meeting focused on the progress of serial production of the PD-14 engine for the MC-21 aircraft, according to Kommersant.

During the meeting, Inozemtsev informed the president about the production of eight PD-14 engines at ODK-Perm Motors. He also shared the company’s plans for the upcoming year, aiming to manufacture 12 engines initially, followed by 24, with the possibility of further increasing production.

The chief designer highlighted that the work is progressing intensively, evoking both enthusiasm and caution. According to his information, three MC-21 aircraft are already equipped with serial PD-14 engines.

It is equally important to note that in early December 2022, ODK-Perm Motors had a different production schedule for the PD-14 engine. According to last year’s plans, 14 units were expected to be manufactured by 2024, and by 2025, the number was projected to reach 34 PD-14 engines.

In August, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced during a cabinet meeting that the government would consider a package of measures to support the country’s aviation industry and expand the production of MC-21 aircraft.

Previously, it was reported that Russian aircraft are experiencing an increased frequency of bird strikes.
