President Biden Requests $4 Billion for Israel’s Defense Systems, Faces Criticism

President Joe Biden has requested Congress to approve $4 billion by 2027 for the purchase of air defense systems for Israel, including the Iron Dome and David’s Sling. The budget office’s letter to the temporary Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Patrick McHenry, which was published by the White House, outlines this request.

In addition to this, Biden has also requested $9.15 billion for humanitarian aid to Ukraine, Israel, and the Gaza Strip, as well as $14.3 billion to strengthen Israel’s defense capabilities.

Prior to this, in his address to the nation, Biden referred to the assistance provided to Ukraine and Israel as a “wise investment” that would yield dividends for future generations. He speculated that if Russia were to win, it would not stop there and could potentially “attack” NATO countries, emboldening “potential aggressors” worldwide and leading to conflicts in other regions. In response, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs accused the US of deception under the guise of “non-existent values”.

Republican Senator James Vance expressed the opinion that Biden is attempting to capitalize on the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to continue supporting Ukraine. According to Vance, the US cannot afford to simultaneously support both Ukraine and Israel.

Earlier, “Gazeta.Ru” answered key questions about the Israel-Palestine conflict.
