The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have announced that Israeli soldiers stationed on the Gaza border are continuing to prepare for a potential ground operation. This statement was made by IDF spokesperson Brigadier General Daniel Haggari during a press briefing, as reported by RIA Novosti.
“The areas bordering the Gaza sector are still considered active combat zones and have been designated as a closed military zone… IDF forces deployed on-site are preparing for the next phase of military action, including maneuvers,” said Haggari.
According to him, the scale of airstrikes by the Israeli Air Force on the Gaza sector in the past two weeks has not been seen in decades.
On October 20, it was reported that Israeli fighter jets had targeted over a hundred military sites belonging to the Palestinian movement Hamas during the night. On the same day, it was also reported that one of the founders of Hamas, Hassan Yusef, was arrested during Israel’s raids on the West Bank.
Earlier, the United States had mentioned the potential timeline for Israel’s ground operation in Gaza.
