In a recent development, Israeli forces have initiated a heavy bombardment of the surrounding areas in southern Lebanon. According to Al Mayadeen TV channel, artillery and tank fire have been employed in response to armed incursions by militants.
As a result of the intense shelling in the Tallet al-Abad region, nine individuals, including a group of journalists, have been trapped in one of the houses. The Lebanese army has sought assistance from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) to rescue these individuals.
Peacekeeping forces have arrived at the scene and successfully evacuated civilians from the shelling zone. According to reports, among those saved are two injured individuals, potentially including journalists.
Furthermore, on October 13th, an Israeli drone attacked a vehicle carrying journalists in Alma al-Shaab. The car contained photojournalists from multiple news agencies and a filming crew from Al Jazeera channel. Unfortunately, photographer Issam Abdullah, working for Reuters agency, could not be saved, while two others sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital.
Lebanon has called on the international community to intervene and address the situation in the Middle East.
Earlier, Israeli authorities approved the possibility of evacuating territories adjacent to Lebanon.
