Hamas representatives have announced that they are engaging with all mediators in order to secure the release of civilian hostages. This information was shared through a Telegram channel belonging to the movement.
“We are working with all mediators to fulfill Hamas’ decision regarding the civilians being held by the organization, provided that the necessary security conditions are met,” the statement reads.
Earlier, Turkey’s Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, stated that active negotiations were taking place with the parties involved in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
According to Bloomberg, pressure is being exerted by the United States and European Union on Israel to postpone a ground operation in the Gaza Strip. This move is reportedly aimed at buying time for secret negotiations involving Qatar regarding the release of hostages captured by Hamas in Israel and transported to the Gaza Strip.
Previously, Hamas had stated that they would release foreign hostages “when circumstances allow.”
