The armed conflict between Israel and the radical Palestinian movement Hamas has created a critical situation in the region, according to Tor Wennesland, the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process.
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper quotes Wennesland as saying, “We are on the brink of a deep and dangerous abyss that could change the trajectory of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and perhaps even the entire Middle East.”
It has also been revealed that two officials from President Joe Biden’s administration have stated that he will advocate for continued US funding to Ukraine and Israel. He will address this issue during a prime-time speech in the Oval Office on Thursday.
The address will take place before the White House requests over $100 billion from Congress for aid and resources to be delivered to Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and the US-Mexico border. It is expected that Biden will argue that supporting Ukraine and Israel is a matter of national security for the US, especially at this pivotal moment in history.
Earlier, Netanyahu announced that Israel is moving towards a “massive attack like never before.”
