In a recent statement, Deputy Spokesperson of the Pentagon, Sabrina Singh, addressed concerns regarding the US arms transfer to Ukraine. Contrary to speculations about a lack of trust in Ukraine, Singh emphasized that the situation in Ukraine is distinct from the conflicts in the Middle East, specifically referencing Israel’s unrestricted access to American weapons.
Singh explained that Israel has been a longstanding partner and ally of the United States in the region. The two countries collaborate closely when it comes to providing necessary security assistance. She further compared Hamas’ attack on Israel to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the US, highlighting Israel’s legitimate right to defend itself against terrorists.
On October 7, Hamas militants launched thousands of rockets into Israeli territory, initiating their operation “Flood of Al-Aqsa.” They infiltrated Israeli territory, seizing dozens of military vehicles and more than a hundred hostages. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu declared a state of war.
The Israeli Defense Forces’ counter-operation, named “Iron Swords,” aims to eliminate Hamas. Israeli Air Force has conducted strikes on hundreds of Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. Additionally, the Israeli National Security Council decided to halt the supply of water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel to the region. On October 13, Israel informed the United Nations that 1.1 million Palestinians must evacuate to the southern part of Gaza within 24 hours in anticipation of a ground operation.
