Ukraine Arms Its Army with Leopard Tanks from Western Allies

The Ukrainian army has officially added three variants of Leopard tanks to its arsenal, thanks to support from its Western partners. This announcement was made by the Ministry of Defense in a statement released on their Telegram channel.

The Ministry highlighted that these newly acquired tanks include the Leopard 2A6, Leopard 2A5, and Leopard 1A5 models. They emphasized that these combat vehicles are designed for breaking through fortified positions and neutralizing enemy fire. Additionally, the Leopard tanks are capable of quickly establishing defensive lines. The decision to incorporate these Western technologies into their military was signed by Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, Rustem Umerov.

In a separate development, Lithuania has offered to repair damaged Leopard tanks from Ukraine. The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense emphasized that providing assistance in such tasks will enable them to offer ongoing support to Ukraine.

Earlier in October, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, where he was shown the Leopard 2 tanks. He discussed the operational situation and other matters with brigade commanders.

Previously, the United States acknowledged the failure of the counteroffensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
