The aviation branch of the Ulyanovsk aircraft manufacturing enterprise, a subsidiary of PJSC “IL” – “Aviastar” of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of “Rostech”), has handed over another serial military transport aircraft Il-76MD-90A to the Russian Ministry of Defense, according to the press service of the state corporation.
According to Sergey Sheremetov, the director of the subsidiary of PJSC “IL” – “Aviastar,” the new aircraft has been received by the military transport aviation (MTA) aviation regiment.
“The factory is fulfilling its obligations to build aircraft within the framework of the production program for 2023 in order to provide the MTA with modern transport aircraft that are in demand in the troops today,” said Sheremetov.
He also noted that the need for a significant increase in the Il-76MD-90A fleet was discussed during a recent visit to “Aviastar” by the Russian Defense Minister, Sergey Shoigu.
On October 11, it became known that Shoigu inspected the production of Il-76M-90 aircraft and the repair of An-124-100 at the PJSC “IL” enterprise in Ulyanovsk.
Prior to this, Shoigu announced that four strategic Tu-160M bomber-missile carriers will be delivered to the Russian Aerospace Forces in 2023.
