Russian Air Defense Systems Capable of Shooting Down American Ballistic Missiles, Claims Military Expert

Russian military expert Victor Litovkin has claimed that Russian air defense systems, including the “Tor,” “Buk,” and S-400 missile complexes, have the capability to shoot down American ATACMS ballistic missiles. Litovkin emphasized that these missiles do not provide any advantage to Ukraine and that Russian air defense systems are fully prepared to intercept them. The retired colonel explained that shooting down these missiles is not a difficult task as they travel on a ballistic trajectory with a range of 136 km and lack any special evasion techniques. Litovkin also highlighted that if Russian complexes such as the “Tor,” “Buk,” or S-400 detect these missiles, they will surely bring them down. This statement comes after the White House confirmed the transfer of tactical ATACMS missiles with a range of 165 km to Ukraine, which had been sought by Kyiv for almost a year. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have already utilized this new weapon to strike the Berdiansk aerodrome, where cassette submunitions M74 were discovered by Russian officials. The Russian Foreign Ministry also reminded the West of the consequences of supplying weapons to Kyiv.
