Russian Air Defense System Shoots Down Six Drones in Belgorod Region

In the Belgorod district and the Yakovlevsky urban district of the Belgorod region, the Russian air defense system successfully intercepted and shot down six unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the aircraft type. This was announced by Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov in his Telegram channel.

According to him, there were no casualties or damage reported.

“In the Belgorod district and the Yakovlevsky urban district, the air defense system has shot down six UAVs of the aircraft type. Operational services are currently gathering information about the consequences on the ground,” the statement read.

On October 17, the Ministry of Defense reported that the air defense forces had destroyed a UAV of the Armed Forces of Ukraine over the Belgorod region.

On October 16, it was reported that four Ukrainian UAVs were shot down over the Belgorod region in one day, and the drones dropped 11 explosive devices.

Prior to this, the Russian Ministry of Defense shared footage of the destruction of enemy positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Artemovsk direction. Russian military forces launched an attack on enemy positions using unmanned aerial vehicles. It is noted that the operators of the drones from the “Southern” group of troops successfully targeted the 80th separate guard assault brigade of the enemy. The footage clearly shows that the ammunition dropped from Russian drones accurately hit the enemy’s shelters and trenches.

Earlier in Russia, a new system for suppressing drones was developed.
