The US administration has reportedly delivered tactical missiles, specifically ATACMS, to Ukraine without public announcement in an attempt to catch Russian troops off guard. This revelation comes from CNN.
It is noted that the American side was concerned that if Washington had announced the transfer of ATACMS in advance, Moscow would have had the opportunity to move its equipment and weapons to a safe distance before the missiles could be used.
According to Associated Press, due to the White House’s concerns about potential escalation of tension in relations with Russia, the missiles provided to Kyiv have a slightly shorter range.
Prior to this, it was revealed that the US had sent long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine, which are equipped with cluster munitions.
On October 17, Vladimir Rogov, the head of the Zaporizhzhia Movement “We are together with Russia,” stated that M74 cluster munitions from American ATACMS ballistic missiles were discovered in Berdiansk, Zaporizhzhia region, following overnight strikes by the Ukrainian army.
On the same day, The Wall Street Journal, citing sources familiar with the situation, reported that a small number of American ATACMS missiles had been secretly delivered to Ukraine in recent days.
Earlier, Zelensky revealed the obstacles preventing Ukraine from shifting the hostilities to Russian territory.
