Russia Begins Process of Withdrawing Ratification of Nuclear Testing Ban Treaty

In a recent announcement, Vyacheslav Volodin, the Speaker of the State Duma, revealed that the process of withdrawing the ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) has commenced.

Volodin reminded that Russia ratified this treaty 23 years ago, expecting a responsible approach from the United States, who signed but did not ratify the agreement. The Speaker of the State Duma highlights that Washington, due to its double standards, irresponsibly handles global security issues.

“In order to ensure the security of our country, we are withdrawing the ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty,” Volodin writes.

The Speaker of the State Duma stated that Russia will do everything necessary to protect its citizens and maintain global strategic parity.

Earlier, Konstantin Vorontsov, the Deputy Head of the Russian delegation at the UN General Assembly, stated that Russia will not conduct nuclear tests, and the responsibility for the current situation lies with the United States.

Previously, North Korea referred to the US submarine’s presence in South Korea as a “condition for the use of nuclear weapons.”
