President Aliyev Declares Karabakh Conflict Resolved

President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan has announced that the Karabakh conflict has been definitively resolved. This news comes from TASS.

Yesterday, Aliyev walked on the flag of Nagorno-Karabakh, which was on the floor of the former administration building. The Azerbaijani leader entered the building to triumphant music, then walked through the hall and stepped on the Karabakh flag.

On September 19, the authorities of Azerbaijan declared a local operation in Karabakh. Baku’s goal was to prevent “large-scale provocations,” disarm and withdraw Armenian army units from the region.

After a day, with the mediation of Russian peacekeepers, the sides reached an agreement on a ceasefire. On September 28, the head of Nagorno-Karabakh, Samvel Shahramanyan, signed a decree to dissolve the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh by January 1, 2024.

In October, Ilham Aliyev raised the Azerbaijani flag in the capital of Nagorno-Karabakh, Stepanakert (known as Khankendi in Azerbaijani).

Earlier, Azerbaijan had declared a search for 300 officials from Karabakh.
