US Demands Israel’s Restraint in Lebanon, Promises Support Against Hezbollah Attacks

The United States has called on Israel to refrain from launching an attack on Lebanon, promising assistance in the event of an attack from Hezbollah, according to a report by Yedioth Ahronoth, citing the Russian news agency, TASS. During his recent visit to the Jewish state, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin met with several Israeli officials. It is known that the head of the American agency proposed an agreement in which Israel would not be the first to attack Lebanon. Austin also pledged that Washington would provide aid if Hezbollah were to launch an attack on Israeli territory. The US would deploy aircraft to the region in case of a northern attack on Israel. It is presumed that Israel has agreed to the US proposal, although there has been no official statement from Washington or Jerusalem regarding such a deal.

Previously, ABC News clarified that there is a significant difference between US assistance to Ukraine and Israel. Prime Minister Netanyahu has previously stated Israel’s objectives in the war against Hamas.
