Pro-Palestinian Activists Demand Biden to End Israeli-Gaza Conflict, Protests at White House Lead to Arrests

Thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters marched to the White House advocating for a cease-fire between Israel and Gaza and demanded that President Biden work to end the war. On Monday, more than 30 protesters were arrested in front of the White House, according to the U.S. Secret Service. This comes after thousands of pro-Palestinian activists took to the streets of the nation’s capital Saturday to advocate for a cease-fire between Israel and Gaza and implored President Biden to end the conflict.

The “Day of Action for Palestine” event drew over 10,000 pro-Palestinian protesters on Saturday to Washington, D.C., according to the American Muslims for Palestine. Hundreds of Palestinian flags soared as demonstrators marched through the streets before culminating in a rally outside the White House. As rain poured down, a cohort of Palestinians, Americans, some Jewish people and more cheered for the freeing of Palestine and the end of the war between Israel and Hamas.

Protests against the war between Israel and Gaza are ongoing. Many attendees expressed their sadness and concern over the loss of innocent lives, particularly children. The American Muslims for Palestine reported that at least 2,800 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 11,000 wounded, while at least 1,400 Israeli civilians and soldiers, along with 30 Americans, have been killed.

President Biden, in a speech on October 10, expressed his support for Israel and vowed that the U.S. will provide necessary support to defend itself. However, activists are calling on him to declare an immediate ceasefire and de-escalate the ongoing conflict. They argue that innocent civilians in Gaza are suffering and that Israel should disengage from offensive actions.

The protests at the White House resulted in over 30 arrests, with individuals crossing safety barriers or blocking entrances during the demonstration. Pro-Palestinian activists are demanding that the Biden administration prioritize peace and work towards ending the war.

Despite the ongoing conflict, the activists remain determined to bring attention to the plight of Palestine and the need for an end to the violence. They criticize the U.S. government for enabling what they see as genocide and accuse it of pushing Israeli propaganda.

The protests in Washington, D.C. reflect the growing global concern over the Israeli-Gaza conflict and highlight the urgency for a peaceful resolution. As pro-Palestinian activists continue to voice their demands, the question remains whether President Biden will heed their calls for a ceasefire and take steps towards resolving the crisis.
