Israel Evacuates Border Areas Amid Heightened Tensions with Lebanon

The Israeli Ministry of Defense and the Israel Defense Forces have announced a plan to evacuate residents living within two kilometers of the border with Lebanon. A joint statement released by the ministry and the IDF stated that the plan includes 28 populated areas.

On October 12, it was revealed that the IDF had deployed reservists to cities along the Lebanese border in response to a general increase in military presence in the northern part of the country. There have been multiple reports of the Shiite organization Hezbollah launching rockets towards Israel, prompting retaliatory actions from the Israeli government.

Earlier, it was reported that the Israeli military had conducted a new strike on Hezbollah infrastructure in Lebanon in response to gunfire from the Israeli side. Hezbollah advocates for the creation of an Islamic state in Lebanon, modeled after Iran, and its supporters adhere to a Shiite interpretation of Islam.
