President Biden expresses reluctance to involve US troops in Middle East conflict

In a recent interview with CBS, President Joe Biden stated that he does not see the need for American forces to be involved in the conflict in the Middle East. When asked about this, he emphasized that Israel has one of the best armies in the world. This statement comes after Biden previously mentioned that Israel should adhere to the rules of war when conducting military operations against the Palestinian group Hamas.

On October 7th, Hamas forces launched thousands of rockets into Israeli territory and declared the start of the “Flood of Al-Aqsa” operation. Thousands of militants infiltrated Israeli territory, seizing dozens of military vehicles and over a hundred hostages. Against this backdrop, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu declared that the country is in a state of war.

In response, the Israeli Defense Forces launched an operation named “Iron Swords,” with the goal of destroying Hamas. The Israeli Air Force carried out strikes on hundreds of Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, while the Israeli National Security Council decided to halt the delivery of water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel to the region.

Earlier, Russia speculated on the possible duration of the Israeli-Hamas war.
