In a recent statement, Israel’s Defense Minister, Yoav Galant, has emphasized that Israel is not interested in engaging in a war on its northern front. Galant’s remarks, reported by Reuters, suggest that as long as the Lebanese group Hezbollah refrains from entering into conflict, Israel will maintain the current border situation.
Furthermore, Galant has asserted that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) are determined to destroy all tunnels belonging to the Palestinian radical group Hamas, as well as eliminate all of its militants in the Gaza sector. According to the minister, Israel’s mission will only conclude once Hamas is completely eradicated.
Earlier, the armed Lebanese group Hezbollah announced an attack on an Israeli army patrol near the settlement of El-Manara. It is worth noting that Hezbollah launched an anti-tank missile towards an IDF armored vehicle. As a result, the area within four kilometers of the Lebanon-Israel border has been closed off by the IDF.
