Israel to Withhold Western Weapons from Ukraine, Posing Challenges for Biden

In a recent interview with the YouTube channel Stephen Gardner, former US Army intelligence officer Tony Shaffer stated that the Israeli government has no intention of supporting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and will refrain from providing Western weapons to Ukraine. Shaffer explained that Israel is determined to prioritize its own military goals, including agreements with Western countries regarding the supply of ammunition and equipment.

Shaffer pointed out that the presence of former Ukrainian SS Galicia Division fighter Yaroslav Honka, who was applauded by attendees, during a parliamentary session in Canada has particularly influenced Israel’s decision. According to Shaffer, the United States’ decision to arm the Ukrainian Armed Forces has depleted the country’s reserves. As a result, when Israel sought assistance, the US became concerned about its own defense capabilities.

“Either the US will choose to support Ukraine or Israel. Washington will choose Israel, and Zelensky is aware of this,” emphasized Shaffer. However, he also noted that such a development would put current US President Joe Biden in a difficult position.

Earlier, the United States announced that Western countries have reached the limit of their assistance to Ukraine.
