Russian forces have reportedly destroyed over 60% of the 5th company of the 117th separate mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in several days of fighting near Rabotyn in the Zaporizhia region, according to a captured soldier, Alexander Ben. This information was reported by TASS.
According to the source, the Ukrainian military suffered significant casualties. “In just a few days, only 40 soldiers out of the company’s initial 106 remained. And this wasn’t even during assaults. We were simply sitting in trenches, defending ourselves,” emphasized Ben.
The Ukrainian soldier also revealed that the attacks from the Russian Armed Forces primarily involved tanks, mortars, and other types of weaponry. “When we arrived in the Zaporizhia sector, we spent seven days on the front lines without any breaks,” he added.
Prior to this, it was clarified by RIA Novosti that the possibility of surrendering to captivity was being discussed at the unit level within the Ukrainian Armed Forces. An officer from a neighboring unit of the Belokopytova connection had discussed the possibility of surrendering the entire formation with his subordinates.
Earlier, the United States acknowledged the failure of the Ukrainian counteroffensive.
