The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Jesus Herman Madera Duran, was also shot during the confrontation but managed to flee the scene. He was later dropped off at a parking garage at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia by one of his associates before the driver sped away. The escape vehicle, a Dodge Durango, was recovered by police in South Brunswick, New Jersey.

The Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5 president, John McNesby, expressed hope for Ortiz’s full recovery and appreciation for his heroic actions.
A reward for any information leading to the arrest of the suspects involved in the shooting has reached $184,500. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and police have not disclosed the exact number of suspects involved.
