A recent revelation by the British channel Sky News has shed light on Hamas’ intentions to carry out an attack on Israeli territory and take hostages, after more than a year of extensive planning. Journalists from the television channel obtained a document found in Israel, belonging to militants from the Gaza Strip.
The 14-page document, marked “classified” in Arabic, contains a detailed plan for overcoming the barriers at the Gaza Strip border. Additionally, the document features symbols of Hamas’ military wing and indicates that the preparations began in October 2022. Media sources clarified that an attempted attack on Mefalsim did occur on October 10th, but it was successfully repelled.
The fact that Hamas had been formulating attack plans against specific Jewish settlements for over a year, unbeknownst to intelligence agencies, is seen as a failure of Israeli intelligence, according to experts. Prior to this revelation, the Israeli Defense Forces had announced the elimination of a Hamas operations leader in kibbutzim. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu had previously vowed to destroy Hamas.
