Hamas has reportedly developed a detailed plan to attack elementary schools and a youth center in the Israeli kibbutz of Kfar Saad, with the aim of causing mass casualties and capturing hostages, according to documents found by Israeli rapid response forces among deceased Hamas fighters. Journalists cite these documents as evidence that Hamas intends to carry out attacks on civilian targets.
The plans allegedly involved two specialized Hamas units surrounding villages, infiltrating them, and launching attacks on locations where peaceful residents gather. The documents also reportedly contained detailed maps.
One page marked “top secret” outlined the attack plan on the kibbutz, which houses two schools and a youth center. Another page, labeled as a “highly classified maneuver,” detailed Hamas units’ plans to seize control of the kibbutz.
On October 7th, Hamas forces launched thousands of rockets into Israeli territory, declaring the start of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation. Thousands of militants invaded Israeli territory, seizing dozens of military vehicles and over a hundred hostages. Against this backdrop, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu declared that the country was at war.
In response, the Israeli Defense Forces launched Operation Iron Swords, with the aim of destroying Hamas. The Israeli Air Force conducted strikes on hundreds of Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, while the Israeli National Security Council decided to halt the supply of water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel to the region. On October 13th, Israel informed the United Nations that 1.1 million Palestinians should evacuate to the southern Gaza Strip within 24 hours, in anticipation of a ground operation in Gaza.
