Hamas Holds 120 Civilians Hostage: Israel Launches Operation ‘Iron Swords’

The Israeli Defense Forces have reported that Hamas is currently holding 120 civilians hostage. This information was shared on the social media platform X. It is believed that the hostages are being held within the Gaza Strip.

Prior to this, Hamas had proposed exchanging the captured Israelis for female prisoners. On October 7th, Hamas launched thousands of rockets into Israeli territory, initiating the operation named “Flood of Al-Aqsa.” Thousands of militants infiltrated Israeli territory, seizing dozens of military vehicles and over a hundred hostages. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu declared that the country was in a state of war.

The counter-operation by the Israeli Defense Forces has been named “Iron Swords,” with the objective of eliminating Hamas. The Israeli Air Force has launched strikes on hundreds of Hamas targets within the Gaza Strip. Additionally, the Israeli National Security Council has decided to halt the supply of water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel to the region. On October 13th, Israel informed the United Nations that 1.1 million Palestinians must evacuate to the southern part of Gaza within 24 hours in anticipation of a ground operation.

Earlier, Israel’s Defense Minister, Yoav Galant, promised that the Gaza Strip would remember the “unprecedented response” for the next 50 years.
