Finland Aims to Increase Production of Ammunition Through Collaboration with Private Sector

The Finnish government, in collaboration with the private sector, is working towards increasing the production of ammunition, according to the country’s Defense Minister, Antti Kaikkonen. This information was reported in an article by Helsingin Sanomat.

The goal is to further enhance the already substantial production of ammunition through the partnership between the state and the industry, clarified the Finnish Minister of Defense. Additionally, Kaikkonen mentioned that funds from the European Union’s funds will be allocated for these purposes.

It is anticipated that the Finnish government will soon make a decision regarding the allocation of funds for ammunition production. The Defense Minister of Finland noted that the amount of money involved is not in the hundreds of millions of euros for the state, but rather in the tens of millions.

The specific timeframe for providing financing for the production of ammunition has not been announced yet. Prior to this, it was reported that NATO countries have signed contracts worth €2.4 billion for the purchase of ammunition, €1 billion of which is allocated for priority deliveries.
