Countries Strengthen Control over Key Infrastructure Following Leakage Incident

After a leakage incident on the Balticconnector, member countries of the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) have pledged to enhance their control over critical infrastructure, according to a statement from coalition leaders cited by RIA Novosti.

“The JEF partners are ready to support the investigation. This incident demonstrates that threats to crucial underwater infrastructure are real, and it reinforces the need to maintain our resilience both at the national level and through collective efforts,” the statement read.

The focus is on bolstering the ability to counter military threats and deter harmful actions. The JEF coalition, led by Britain, also includes Estonia, the Netherlands, Iceland, Lithuania, Latvia, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark. The organization complements NATO in its tasks of deterrence in the Baltic Sea region.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin responded to reports of Russia’s involvement in the incident on the Finnish gas pipeline.

Previously, Schultz had promised to see through the completion of the Nord Stream projects.
