The Russian Ministry of Digital Development has requested the Ministry of Defense and the Main Military Prosecutor’s Office to conduct an investigation into the denial of draft deferment for IT specialists. This move comes after several cases of IT specialists being called up for military service despite having legal deferments, as reported by TASS citing a source close to the Ministry of Digital Development.
According to the source, the Ministry of Digital Development has sent letters to the Ministry of Defense and the Main Military Prosecutor’s Office, urging them to investigate the cases of IT specialists being denied deferment during the autumn draft. The source emphasized that all these individuals have valid grounds for deferment and have timely submitted the necessary applications through the “Gosuslugi” portal.
The letter from the Ministry of Digital Development highlights the importance of preventing such situations from occurring, and requests assistance in investigating possible violations by the draft commissions and resolving the issue of deferment restoration.
The autumn draft for military service began in Russia on October 1. Previously, President Putin had discussed the future of the Russian army, emphasizing its importance in the country.
