Israeli Defense Forces Allow Evacuated Civilians to Return to Gaza

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have announced that civilians who were evacuated for safety reasons will be able to return to the Gaza Strip after receiving further notification. This announcement was made through the IDF’s Telegram channel. “You will only be able to return to the city of Gaza after another announcement permits it. Do not approach the security fence of the State of Israel,” the statement said. Israeli military officials have warned that militants from the radical Palestinian group Hamas, who recently launched attacks on Israel, are hiding in tunnels beneath homes and inside buildings populated by innocent civilians in Gaza. The IDF has also stated that they will continue their active operations in the Gaza Strip in the coming days, taking all necessary precautions to minimize harm to the civilian population.

Earlier, the spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric, reported that Israel had informed the organization about the need to evacuate 1.1 million Palestinians to the southern part of the Gaza Strip within a day. However, the UN has expressed concerns about the potential humanitarian consequences of such a displacement. Israel’s permanent representative to the UN, Gilad Erdan, called the UN’s reaction shameful.
