Israel Declares Border Town a Restricted Military Zone Amidst Escalating Conflict

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have declared the town of Metula, located on the northern border with Lebanon, a restricted military zone. This announcement comes as tensions rise amidst the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. The IDF representative has confirmed this information, as reported by Yedioth Ahronoth.

According to the publication, residents of neighboring towns have been advised to refrain from traveling to Metula and its surrounding areas. On October 7th, Hamas forces launched thousands of rockets into Israeli territory, initiating the “Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.” Thousands of militants infiltrated Israeli territory, seizing dozens of military vehicles and over a hundred hostages. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu declared a state of war.

The Israeli Defense Forces’ counter-operation has been named “Iron Swords,” with the objective of eliminating Hamas. Israeli Air Force conducted strikes on hundreds of militant targets in the Gaza Strip, and the Israeli National Security Council decided to halt the supply of water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel to the enclave. On October 13th, Israel informed the United Nations that 1.1 million Palestinians should evacuate to the southern Gaza in anticipation of a ground operation.

This recent development adds to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine. “Gazeta.Ru” has previously addressed key questions regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict.
