US Considers Revising Decision on Sending Troops to the Middle East Amidst Hamas Hostage Crisis

The United States may reconsider its decision to refrain from sending troops to the Gaza Strip, according to sources within President Joe Biden’s administration, as reported by Politico. The idea of revising the decision comes in light of the crisis involving Hamas-held hostages.

The Biden administration had previously ruled out the deployment of troops, including special forces, to Gaza in an effort to free American hostages. However, a high-ranking official in the White House has indicated that this decision could be reevaluated.

The outcome, as noted by the publication, will depend on the level of escalation in the conflict. Earlier, the US stated that it was not considering the possibility of American military involvement in operations to rescue Israeli captives. Nevertheless, American experts are advising the Israelis on how to proceed. According to officials’ estimates, there are currently between 100 and 150 individuals, including missing American citizens, held hostage by Hamas.

Previously, a political analyst identified one of the reasons for the escalation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
