A North Dakota couple had a terrifying experience when they were awakened in the middle of the night by loud noises and discovered a naked and highly-intoxicated man trashing their daughter’s bedroom. The incident occurred on West Bowen Avenue in Bismarck, and the homeowners promptly took action to protect themselves and their property.
According to police records, the male homeowner grabbed his firearm and held the intruder at gunpoint while his wife called 911. The couple reported that they found the suspect, identified as Alvin Ducheneaux, throwing toys and clothes around the room and claiming he was there to pick up clothing for himself.
It was revealed that Ducheneaux had entered the home through an unlocked back door after the family had gone to bed. In addition to the damages in their daughter’s bedroom, he also caused destruction in the entryway closet. The homeowners estimated the total damages to be around $200.
The homeowners speculated that the intruder may have mistaken their home for a neighbor’s house. Police confirmed that Ducheneaux was highly intoxicated at the time of the incident. He was subsequently arrested and charged with Burglary, Criminal Mischief, and Disorderly Conduct.
Ducheneaux is currently being held in the local jail on a $5,000 cash bond and could face up to 10 years in prison on the felony charge. His next court date is scheduled for November.
