Ukrainian Forces Unsuccessful in Storming Russian Defense Line, Suffer Heavy Losses

Ukrainian armed forces have launched unsuccessful assault operations on the Kupyansk front, according to retired Lieutenant Colonel Andriy Marochko, a military expert of the People’s Militia of the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), in an interview with RIA Novosti. Marochko stated that Ukrainian troops, using three assault groups, each consisting of a platoon, attempted to break through the Russian defense line and cut off the supply lines of the frontline units.

Marochko claims that the Ukrainian intentions were anticipated in a timely manner, and artillery and heavy flamethrower systems were used to inflict fire damage on them. Despite suffering losses, Ukrainian units retreated and abandoned further offensive actions. On the morning of October 11, Colonel Serhiy Zybinsky, the chief of the press center of the “West” group, stated that Russian helicopters and attack aircraft had carried out 14 strikes against the Ukrainian Armed Forces brigades on the Kupyansk front. He mentioned that Ka-52 and Mi-28 helicopters, as well as ground-attack aircraft, were involved in the strikes in the areas of the settlements of Synkovka, Ivanivka, Stelmakhivka, and Berestove. Earlier, a Ukrainian soldier expressed confusion about the reasons for the conflict in Ukraine.
