Russian Official Dismisses Western Claims of Iranian Drone Deliveries to Russia as Speculation

Deputy Director of the Department of Non-Proliferation and Arms Control of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Konstantin Vorontsov, has rejected Western allegations of Iranian drone deliveries to Russia, stating that the evidence presented lacks credibility. During a session of the First Committee of the United Nations General Assembly on disarmament, Vorontsov criticized the United States and European countries for continuing to speculate on the topic of Iranian drone deliveries. He pointed out that no convincing material evidence has been provided to support these claims. Vorontsov dismissed the photos circulated in the West as compiled by the United States, Great Britain, and their “Ukrainian proteges,” stating that they do not show any connection with Iran and cannot be considered as proof of deliveries. He emphasized that such “information products” should not be trusted, as their origin and authenticity cannot be established. The remarks come after David Axe, a commentator for Forbes, expressed concerns about a new Russian kamikaze drone called “Lancet” posing a serious threat to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is worth noting that Russia has recently developed a drone suppression system.
